About our school

With voices clear, all at Burwood Public School Acknowledge the Wangal Clan as the Traditional Custodians of this place. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. With Deeds Not Words we learn, grow and care for Country together with our Aboriginal brothers and sisters, Aunties and Uncles.

On behalf of the students, staff, parents, and ex-students, it gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the website of Burwood Public School. We appreciate you taking the time to find out what our School is all about.

Burwood Public School has been providing quality education since 1871. The school has approximately 520 students from a diverse community from a a range cultural and linguistic groups including international students. The dedicated teachers have a wide range of experience. The school has a strong academic history and provides a variety of extracurricular opportunities for students including quality programs in instrumental music and dance.

In literacy and numeracy, teachers identify, understand and implement effective explicit and evidenced based teaching methods to optimise learning progress and engagement for all students.

In order to maximise student learning outcomes for every student in literacy and numeracy we develop and refine effective assessment and data driven teaching practices and data informed school direction decision making.

We aim to embed a school culture of educational aspiration, learning excellence and innovative practice to challenge all students.
